Artist's Comments

This is going to be the image used for the award given to the artists who win the Inuyasha Feudal Association's award for Best Group Depiction in an artwork.

This took a really long time. Umm... 15 hours. That seems long to me. Anyhow, this is the first time I've ever drawn Shippou! Isn't he a cutie? His cheeks are stuffed with food, BTW.
The point of view is Kagome's and the whole idea is that she's taking a snapshot of the rest of the group as they are enjoying a stop for lunch.

The IYFA is a group of fans that nominate, vote and distribute awards for outstanding Inuyasha fan fiction and fan art.

From an artistic standpoint, the quality of this drawing is quite high, but the Inuyasha characters don't translate so well into this style, ex: Sango's gigantic nose and Shippo's Rosy cheeks.

I'd say, not right for these characters, but if it weren't trying to be them, this would be an awesome picture! Keep on drawin'!

A Deep Thought: Of all my relatives, my friends and I most liked "Uncle Caveman." We called him this because he lived in a cave, and sometimes, he'd eat one of us. Later on, we found out he was a bear.

Can't please everybody, but out of everyone who has seen my version of the Inuyasha characters, you are the only person who has said something like that to me. As an artist who enjoys anime but does not draw in that style, I translate the characters as well as I can. I'm not going to change the way I draw to please people like you. Maybe for some people it doesn't jive so well, and that's fine.
The way you worded your comment, it comes out pretty harshly. You can just say that YOU don't like it and leave it at that. Thanks.

You think Sango has a gigantic nose? that's pretty funny. :sarcasm:

Truth be told, I phrased it as nicely as I could. If I wanted to be mean, I wouldn't have told you that the artistic quality is "quite high" and that you should "Keep on drawin'." I'd have told you that you're a failure at life and that you should just end it now, but that would not only be a lie, but downright mean, and I'm really not that kind of person. Please don't misunderstand me; you don't need to have such a reaction over my humble opinion.

I don't have a problem with your opinion of my work. What I have a problem with is that you made sweeping criticisms of my work, and they were not constructive in the least. I didn't think you were being mean, and I'm not upset with you for speaking your mind. It's just how you go about doing it that I have taken issue with. I appreciate constructive feedback. When I get generalized negative comments that do nothing for me artistically I get a bit frustrated.
I'm glad you like the artistic quality of my work, and I'm going to "keep on drawing" no matter what anyone says.

As for the way I draw the characters, it's called artistic license. It's not "trying to be them", it's my interpretation of them.

Thank you for your comment!
