50K and Thank You!

Wow, 50,000 pageviews! It's a milestone! A big thank you goes out to all of my watchers and lurkers - thank you for the faves and comments and general lurve. I lurve you all in return! :blowkiss:

Now I have to submit more often! Too bad I work so slowly. :cries:

I'm currently working on a pile of commissions, so that's why I've been a bit quiet lately. I still lurk around here when I need a break, so I'm around.

You can catch me this August at the Fan Expo Artist Alley and in September I'll be at Yaoi Con in the Fan Market sellin' mah yaoi.

And thank you to whoever nominated my picture, "Naraku Close-up" for "Best Character Portrait" at the Feudal Association awards. I must have missed that while the nominations were going on, because it was a surprise when I got the notification today.

Thanks also to those people who have nominated my work for the FA in the past. I'm usually pretty quiet about getting awards and such, so I don't tend to make announcements when I win something, but it does give me the warm fuzzies when someone likes a picture of mine enough to nominate and/or vote for it. So thank you! :glomp:

And many of you have probably heard already, but the Inuyasha manga FINALLY ended yesterday with chapter 558. A few loose ends left untied, and a lot of questions left unanswered...... but it's over! :w00t: And all of those loose ends mean fan fic, and lots of it! So get writing, people! :XD:

Fan Expo 2008

Well, it looks like I'll be doing > this year, so if you missed me at Anime North or (omg) want to buy moar from me, it's August 22-24 downtown at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

The lovely and talented =pyrogina obtained an Artist Alley table and put out the APB for a table mate... and it sounded like a marvelous idea so I decided to volunteer to share it with her. I especially like that this convention is not limited to anime, but also celebrates Sci-Fi, gaming, horror and comics. That means I can break out the Star Trek TOS cosplay and go as a science officer in a blue minidress! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :boogie: :XD:

Anyway, just thought I'd give you guys the heads-up on that since the organizers took their time with confirming =pyrogina's reservation.

Did I mention already that I'm going to Yaoi Con again this year? I think I did. Anyway, at least I'm getting out and selling stuff, right?

Speaking of selling stuff, remember that there's a print sale going on at my website, www.jojo-kun.com and the shipping charges are super cheap right now! I'm practically paying YOU to buy/ship my prints at these rates. My prices are lower than deviantART's, so if you've ever wanted to buy a print of one of the images in my gallery, now's the time! They're very high quality (I'm very picky about the final printed image), and I can print ANYTHING from my gallery. That means that if you don't see what you want, you can just ask me for it. Very simple!

Anyway, NYC was grand! I bought lots of books and went to the Murakami exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Boy, was that an experience! :XD: Next trip, Chicago for my birthday and Lollapalooza at the beginning of August!

NYC and Print Sale!!

So in a few hours I'll be heading out to NYC! While I'm there, I'll be going to the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art's (MoCCA) Festival Fundraiser thingy (a friend of mine wanted to go and twisted my rubber arm). I'm pretty much just along for the ride, but it sounded like it would be a good experience to go and check it out.

We'll be coming back on Sunday afternoon. I kind of wish we were staying longer on Sunday or going home on Monday instead, because there's a comics workshop going on on Sunday that looks interesting. Oh well!

I'm having a print sale over at my website, www.jojo-kun.com. $2 off 8.5x11" prints and $5 off 13x19" prints, only until June 30 and shipping is SUPER CHEAP! I can print off any image in any of my galleries, so if you want something and it's not in the "image gallery" on my website, just ask!

AND it's official! I'm going to Yaoi Con again this coming September, and I'll be selling my pr0n pictures of sexy mens in the Fan Market. I got my Seller's Permit, so I'm good to go! Dirty Dogs will be on the roster there, although the printing is going to be extremely cheap. 'Cheap' as in, c/o my laser printer. ^^; I am far too shy to be shopping it around to print shops! I would die of embarrassment, not to mention that most of the print shops that do comics are in the US... and Canada Customs has a bad record of seizing naughty material that is crossing the border in large boxes. I'd rather not chance it.

Anyway, it will be lovingly bound BY HAND (I'll likely want to kill myself with all of the collating, folding and stapling I'll be doing for each chapter), and hopefully I'll have a third installment of the comic by the time September rolls around. We'll see! I'm also going to re-line and re-tone Chapter 1 of Dirty Dogs, because it's a little too messy.

YEP, so that's it for now! Off to New York! See you around, dudes! :bye:

Anime North Post-Mortem

Well I got out, sold some prints, met some awesome people and made a bit of cash. All in all it was an educational experience and I'm glad I did it.

The con was great! It was quite fun and had lots of activities for people to participate in. The crowd was happy and there was a good mood. It was fun meeting people who I know from online, and some people who recognized my work from here on deviantART.

Unfortunately for me, I didn't break even. My prints were of a MUCH higher quality than the average, and they were a tad more expensive as a result. I couldn't afford to sell them for less! :cries: So I didn't have as many sales as I would have liked. I'm hoping to go to a few more conventions before the fall and sell my work there. The upside of doing this is that I won't have to print as much (I did SO MUCH printing for Anime North because I didn't know what to expect), so my overhead won't be quite as high.

Anyway, check out ~rikuson and *IcePhoenix-83 - they were my neighbours in the Artist Alley, and they're awesome! I couldn't have asked for better neighbours.

Also, I HAVE A NEW WEBSITE!

:star:www.jojo-kun.com:star:

You can order prints from me through PayPal and everything! All of my prints are on high-quality archival photo paper (Moab Lasal Photo Luster - 270 gsm) and are printed with professional-grade archival inks. This means that they will never fade or change colour, and all prints are securely packaged in crystal clear bags from clearbags.com.

YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.

Artist Alley

Hey there! Happy Victoria Day to my Canadian friends! ^^ :flagcanada:

I'm doing the Artist Alley at Anime North this coming weekend, and I've been printing my images like a madwoman these past few weeks. I've bought myself a Canon Pixma Pro 9500 to do my dirty work for me, because I am a control freak and I don't want to be at the mercy of print shops if I can help it. I like to be as comfortable as possible, and what is more comfortable than printing at home?

Ah, anyway I've run into a couple of snags along the way, but I've worked them all out and everything is pretty good. I'm still nervous about the convention, but I think it's going to work out alright. I'm just doing old-fashioned prints - no bookmarks, no keychains, no pins, no t-shirts. Gotta keep it simple! It's my first Artist Alley, after all.

Sooooo I was wondering. To those of you who have sold at an Artist Alley or know someone who has, do the smaller prints tend to sell better than larger prints? I'm just wondering if I should be concentrating on doing more 4x6 and 5x7 than 8.5x11. My printer also prints 13x19, but I'm only going to do a couple of poster prints anyway.

So whaddaya say? :sherlock:
